Different Types of Nursing
Cardiac Nurses
Cardiac nurses deal with patients who suffer from various conditions of the cardiovascular system or the heart, under the supervision of a cardiologist. Cardiac nurses are responsible for the post-operative care of the patient, conducting a stress test evaluation, cardiac monitoring using the telemetry, vascular monitoring, and health assessment upon the recovery of the patient.
Cardiothoracic Nurses
This specialization has undergone a lot of great changes for the last decades. The cardiothoracic nurse is expected to monitor patients who are due for surgeries such as coronary artery bypass graft, heart transplants, heart valve surgery, lung transplant, and other major surgeries that cover the heart and lung.
General Medicine Nurses
Most general medicine nurses are assigned to the ward area. Many of their patients are adults who have complex diseases due to old age or hereditary conditions.
Hemodialysis Nurses
Hemodialysis nurses are greatly responsible for educating the patient, including his or her family, in the absence of a physician and in support of the patient during the session. Side effects of the dialysis might affect the cooperation of a patient, which is is why it would be necessary to watch over them until their treatment is complete.
Labor and Delivery Nurses
A labor and delivery nurse assists pregnant women during the start of her contractions until when the baby is born. This nurse may work hand in hand with the nursery nurse, who takes care of the newborn baby upon delivery.
Medical and Surgical Nurses
Medical and surgical nurses generally look after patients who go into operating rooms. They may have patients who are on the geriatric stage or pediatric stage, depending on the type of surgery they have undergone.
Pediatric Nurses
Pediatric nurses deal with young patients, mostly children, with health conditions.
Other types of nursing include the following:

Whichever type of nursing specialization a nurse will pursue, their responsibility is to make sure that they provide patients with proper treatment with a thorough explanation if needed.
