When an international money transfer is sent a registration number assigned to the order and can be found on the receipt confirmation if sent online or on the physical stub returned to the sender as receipt of the transaction. This is an 11-digit number and by entering this, and the sender’s last name, the status of any order sent through MoneyGram can be found.

To check if an international money transfer has been cashed MoneyGram provide a phone service and a call to the number 1-800-542-3590 will confirm this or not. The 11-digit reference number and dollar amount sent are needed to avail of this service.

Ways to Track Money Orders as Receiver:

If the sender has furnished the receiver with the reference number for the international money transfer, the receiver can track the order on the MoneyGram website even if they don’t have their own account. Enter the 11-digit number and receiver’s last name and click to ‘Track a Transfer’ on the site to view the money order status.
If the receiver is collecting the order in person, they can go to the MoneyGram retail agent to inquire as to the current status of the money order. There may be many reasons for a delay in transfer, especially if done by mail and more so if sent to a hard to reach location.
As receiver of the money, it is not possible to make a claim for missing money orders, only the sender can do this. However, it would be advisable to contact MoneyGram as receiver to let the issue be known as perhaps the sender has not done so. This could help find the order or give clarity on it’s status such as was it collected by someone else or even cashed.
Contact the sender so that something can be done to submit a claim form for a different money order to be sent.
